Summary
Indiana’s Department of Child Services (DCS) found that its child welfare information systems did not provide the functionality required for a fully integrated case management system, compliant with federal Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System (CCWIS) standards. To make the systems compliant and to improve operational and performance-related issues, DCS determined a new system was needed.
In 2020, Indiana chose WRMA to lead the implementation of this project. WRMA brings broad knowledge in large-scale child welfare systems design, architecture, implementation, automation, and management, having worked with more than 30 states on CCWIS and Statewide Automated Child Welfare Information System (SACWIS) projects.
Details
WRMA serves as one of several contractors selected to design and implement a new CCWIS to meet DCS’s goal to drive data quality to improve outcomes for children and families. The new CCWIS leverages DCS’s existing technical platforms, including use of the Salesforce, for the greatest return on investment. More than a dozen core functional modules will be incorporated into the CCWIS including intake, assessment and investigation, risk management, case management, referral management, eligibility, and more.
As the implementation lead for the project, WRMA will use Agile methodologies to coordinate deployment of the software into production, train users, and ready support mechanisms to address any challenges associated with the rollout. As a part of implementation, WRMA will conduct a pilot to validate system usability and support processes, orchestrate an organizational readiness assessment, and report results of these implementation functions.
