In April 2023, WRMA Chief Administrative Officer, Melissa C. Smith, sent out a companywide email announcing the establishment of a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) initiative within WRMA and our parent company, TriMetrix.
Staff members were invited to participate in the DEIA committee to help drive efforts. The committee’s purpose is to provide recommendations to HR on expanding internal DEIA efforts and to the Executive Team on incorporating DEIA efforts externally through client work.
Since formed, the group has advanced DEIA improvements across the company. Some of the tasks the committee has undertaken include:
- Rebranding the company’s quarterly lunch and learn events and educating staff on the importance of this change.
- Allocating space in the quarterly staff newsletter for DEIA topics to educate staff. The first topic highlighted the use of gender pronouns to promote inclusion in the workplace. It included tips to include pronouns in email signatures and work profiles, make sharing pronouns the norm, and embrace gender-inclusive language.
- Developing processes to make asking for accommodations easier for employees and educating managers on ways to be inclusive and accommodating to these requests.
- Inviting a DEIA Strategic Planning Subject Matter Expert to the committee meetings to provide expertise and guidance on how to do this work.
TriMetrix and WRMA proudly support our DEIA committee in exploring ways to support all our employees. Our leadership has passionately championed the DEIA initiative since its inception, and the committee is excited to continue propelling it forward. Stay tuned for updates on this effort!
