ARLINGTON, VA. – WRMA CARES, our corporate social responsibility program, kicked off the Ambassador Program at the end of July. The Ambassador Program pays employees for one eight-hour work day once every six months to volunteer for causes important to them.

“We are excited to offer this opportunity to our employees and see WRMA’s commitment to making the world a better place shine through their efforts,” said WRMA chief administrative officer Melissa Smith. “The WRMA Ambassador program allows our staff to go out into their communities and reflect our core values in our focus areas of community, the environment, and diversity and inclusion.”

WRMA Ambassadors may spend their time volunteering for an approved 501(c)(3) organization and are provided with a WRMA CARES T-shirt to wear during their volunteer day. They’re also asked to provide a short write-up about how their time was spent so that news of their good work can be shared, encouraging other employees to participate in the program. Staff have been provided with a tip sheet to help them find an organization in their area to support if they aren’t already connected to a qualifying nonprofit.
